Hybrid system

by Mark Rowe

Honeywell has added hybrid network video recorders (NVRs) to its MAXPRO range of high-definition IP video products, and has introduced HVE video/audio encoders that allow installers to switch their customers’ analogue cameras to IP.

The hybrid NVRs convert analogue feeds to IP without replacing analogue cameras, which is for smaller installations that want to keep their analogue cameras while adding HD IP video. When installed with an existing NVR, the HVE encoders transition the NVR to a hybrid model that supports a mix of analogue and HD IP video, the multi-national reports.

The makers say that their MAXPRO NVR Hybrid Standard Edition (SE) surveillance system is for migrating small to mid-size installations in a hybrid format, and supports 32 channels of video, including up to 16 analogue. The MAXPRO NVR Hybrid Xpress Edition (XE) accommodates initial entry into hybrid video, and supports up to 16 channels.

Ulrich Hopfstock, product line marketing manager EMEA, Honeywell Security Group, said: “There is growing demand for technologies that marry existing infrastructure with the latest high-definition video surveillance capabilities. By leveraging MAXPRO NVR Hybrid, Honeywell installers can offer customers an affordable, pre-installed solution that utilizes existing analogue investments, is easy to set-up and provides advanced video features such as high-quality video, better tracking functionality and smarter video search capabilities.”

MAXPRO NVR Hybrid supports simultaneous recording and live monitoring for up to 32 cameras and is compliant with the ONVIF Profile S protocol. Also, 360-degree camera support increases situational awareness and improves coverage, and a video surround feature lets users track subjects as they move between areas covered by adjacent cameras. Customers can access the system remotely using Honeywell’s web client and MAXPRO Mobile application. The web client is supported from any standard Mac or PC browser and requires no extra install. The interface features live view and playback of recorded video.

The new HVE video/audio encoders speed up the analogue-to-IP conversion process by enabling an NVR to work with a mix of analogue and IP cameras. For example, a customer with an NVR can install the new encoders to turn the NVR to a hybrid model. The encoders can be installed to an NVR remotely. Honeywell’s HVE encoders are available in single, four, or eight channels and feature a range of video compression options.
