Floodlights for hazardous areas

by Mark Rowe

Raytec has launched SPARTAN. They’re a range of ATEX/ IECEx LED floodlights that change for hazardous areas. Raytec asys its products’ benefits of energy and maintenance cost savings can now be applied to the most hazardous and extreme sites, such as oil and gas, food processing and chemical plants.

The new range delivers an output of up to 9,000 lumens. The floodlights are also said to be efficient, using half the number of LEDs compared to traditional products, it is claimed and requiring a maximum of only 120W. Its CoolXtrude thermal management system delivers power whilst ensuring an operational life of ten or more years, the manufacturers say, allowing the products to be rated for up to T6 environments.

The product’s modular design provides access to components including LED and PSU modules. Power supply modules are removable and can be replaced – useful the makers say for isolated locations. They can also be located remotely for ease of maintenance in areas with limited access.

Barry Thompson, Head of Raytec’s Hazardous Area Division, says: “New SPARTAN floodlights set the benchmark in flexibility and performance in the hazardous area environment. SPARTAN is the most reliable and maintenance friendly lighting solution for such harsh and remote environments where failure is not an option”.

The range is ATEX and IECEx approved for all Zone 1 and Zone 2 applications and is enclosed in a marine grade aluminium housing with toughened front glass window, using the firm’s LEDs. The flood lights are available in three sizes, White-Light and Infra-Red and emergency versions. Spartan Linear and Bulkhead products are also available on request.
