FLIR Systems, Inc has launched its TCX PTZ (pan-tilt-and zoom camera).
The firm says it’s the first thermal PTZ camera that is compatible with the industry’s top video standards and includes video motion detection (VMD) analytics.
The makers say that the pan and tilt out-performs standard visible light cameras by using a thermal camera to provide alarm assessment and visual verification. Using thermal, security users can see clearly in complete darkness, in challenging lighting, low-contrast scenes, bad weather, or heavily landscaped areas, according to the company.
The product works with FLIR’s MPX, or HDCVI, IP, and analogue products. It is also ONVIF Profile S compliant to integrate with such intrusion detection products as shaker fences, trip wires, and motion detectors. The PTZ combines VMD analytics and FLIR’s proprietary Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) thermal video feature to display high-contrast foreground and background details.

Available in 640×480 resolution with a 32 degree lens or 320×240 resolution with a 25 degree lens, both with 4x continuous eZoom and continuous 360 degree panning, the TCX PTZ captures video footage at multiple angles and perspectives.
