IP external motion detector

by Mark Rowe

GJD’s D-TECT 3 IP external motion detector, pictured, is designed as a replacement for traditional analogue detectors.

The D-TECT 3 IP combines all of the features of the company’s D-TECT 3, plus IP connectivity to provide IP-based security detection. The pairing of quad element PIR (passive infra-red) and microwave detection enables the product to pinpoint intruders and keep nuisance triggers to a minimum, the UK manufacturers say. The detector also works with CCTV cameras to provide visual confirmation of the activation. This reduces the costs associated with nuisance alarms, and generates action to secure people, properties and possessions the makers add.

A secure web-based interface provides real time remote monitoring access, and brings the ability to monitor from anywhere, at any time. As for install of the web-based interface, there are no requirements for additional set up or software, as the user logs in through a web address.

Detector settings can be remotely accessed and altered via the interface. Some of the adjustable settings include the ability to alter the LUX level trigger, alarm sensitivity and detection range, as well as setting activation for specific times.

The product offers integration with third party vieo management software and CCTV systems. Bosch VMS, Milestone Xprotect, Hikvision, Mirasys, SeeTec Enterprise and Probox are among the supported VMS providers. Supported cameras for direct control include Axis, Bosch, Ernitec, Hikvision and Sony. Others are being added.

The D-TECT 3 IP features a programmable beam range of up to 30 metres. According to the makers, this allows users to tailor the detector to suit their specific site requirements and avoid boundary overspill. The detectors has an IP65 zinc metal weather-proof housing.
