The product company Eaton has appointed David Hicks as technical director of security products. Leading engineers at the power management company’s security innovation centre in Mitcheldean, Gloucestershire, Hicks’ job is to design and develop security products. He is also responsible for updates of the firm’s commercial and residential security products.
Hicks, pictured, said: “The engineering team here is highly skilled and experienced and I’m delighted to join them. There’s a real sense of energy. We have exciting plans to build on our strengths and continue to innovate so that our customers can benefit from security products that offer maximum reliability, excellent aesthetics, intuitive operation and full compliance with evolving regulations and standards.
“The growing convergence of different technologies into smart and cohesive systems is a particularly exciting area and I look forward to exploring the synergies that can be developed with other parts of Eaton.”
Hicks, who lives with his wife and two children in South Wales, is a Chartered Electrical Engineer. He joins from GE, where he was a product manager within the oil and gas division, developing data analytics for subsea oil production. Earlier, he was a technical director at Halma, responsible for design and development of radio telemetry equipment.
Eaton offers third-party tested security products covering access control, lone worker protection and intruder detection and alarms, including the Menvier and Scantronic product lines. Recent launches include the i-on40 kits, flush keypad, external sounder, internal sounder and the i-on1000EXKP intruder alarm control panel.
