IP Transition

by msecadm4921

American Dynamics, part of Tyco Security Products has introduced HDVR, one of the industry’s few hybrid digital video recorders to support H.264 compression on analogue and IP cameras.

HDVR lets users deploy both analogue and IP cameras from a single platformand the firm says protects investment for those customers who want to turn to IP cameras later. HDVR supports a list of IP cameras, both standard resolution and megapixel.

Warren Brown, director of product management for American Dynamics solutions, said: "The transition to a complete IP security infrastructure is a multi-year process for many of our customers. There are definite benefits to implementing IP cameras in certain parts of a facility and analogue in others. HDVR allows us to protect the investment our customers have already made in analogue cameras, but who may want to add IP cameras in strategic locations.”

HDVR offers customers an intuitive Graphical User interface (GUI) making it easy the US firm says to view and search video and to configure both analogue and IP cameras. A common client allows users to connect to multiple HDVR servers, creating a scalable network.

HDVR supports H.264 and MJPEG compression on analogue cameras and H.264, MPEG4, MJPEG on IP cameras. A removable BNC interface makes maintenance virtually pain-free while providing the performance and reliability of fully integrated solutions; technicians can simply remove the plate, leaving all BNCs intact and limiting disruption of service.

HDVR is available through American Dynamics’ worldwide channel of integrators.
