Spear phishing advice

Recent research suggests that so-called spear phishing attacks are behind over 90 per cent of cyber-attacks on organisations, according to Tend Micro. An information security awareness company releases its latest advisory detailing the nature of such events and how to defend against them. Ruth Pooley of The Security Company, says: “Almost all spear phishing involves sending extremely convincing emails with malicious file attachments. Attackers use Social Media, Google searches and other internet sources to gather information on the victim to make the email look genuine. There is no other defence against this other than education and awareness training.”
