Stalking conference

April 18 is National Stalking Awareness Day – to raise awareness about the crime of stalking. This year’s focus will be ‘Know the Law, Use the Law’.

Organisers say that the law is slightly different in England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland but importantly stalking behaviour is against the law across the UK. We want everyone affected by stalking to know that there is help available and that they are not alone. There is more information below about how we are planning to spread the message this year.

A conference for practitioners and partners in the community and criminal justice sector on April 18. The conference at the Emmanuel Centre (http://www.emmanuelcentre.com/) in central London will focus on the theme of Stalking Awareness Day which is ’Know the Law, Use the Law’. It will be chaired by ACPO Stalking and Harassment lead ACC Garry Shewan and speakers include Dr. Frank Farnham of the National Stalking Clinic, Dr Steve Connor – CEO of National Centre for Domestic Violence, Superintendent Paul Giannasi and Claire Waxman – Campaigner and survivor of stalking.
