Occupational standards projects

by Mark Rowe

Skills for Security are working on some National Occupational Standards (NOS) projects, and would welcome industry input into their development to improve them further:

A NOS for CCTV managers is a new project, while these three are revisions:

· Community Wardens;
· Cash and Valuables in Transit (CVIT); and
· Cash Processing Operations.

To download the draft documents and comment on the message board – follow the options on the page http://www.skillsforsecurity.org.uk/index.php/help/35/2. The consultation is open until 9am, Monday, September 14.

The 25-page CCTV manager NOS for example covers operational and management standards; managing clients’ security accounts; system and service development; ensuring that information collected through CCTV meets requirements; and managing disaster recovery plans to achieve business continuity.
