Accolade at Consec

by Mark Rowe

Prof Martin Gill, pictured, was yesterday announced as the Association of Security Consultants (ASC) Imbert Award winner for 2016 at the ASC’s annual conference Consec, for his contribution to security, for developing the OSPA awards, as featured in our July 2016 print issue.

He said afterwards: “To me it is the ultimate accolade to be recognised by your peers and I am both extremely grateful and humbled by the honour. I am acutely aware of how many deserving people there are out there in security undertaking excellent work which is often unheralded. It is ironic that I receive two prestigious awards when one of my main commitments is to recognise the truly deserving security people around the world via the OSPAs. I would like to thank all those people who support me.”

Also nominated by industry bodies were Lynn Watts-Plumpkin (IPSA), and Pauline Norstrom (BSIA). The prize is named after former Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police and Lord Lieutenant of Greater London, Lord Peter Imbert, an editorial board member of Professional Security magazine.

Martin Gill was nominated by the UK chapter of ASIS, and the Security Institute. In September at ASIS’ annual flagship conference in the United States, he received a President’s Award for Merit.

Consultants who won the prize draw at the end of Consec were Andy Williams, Bill Croft, Roger Felgate, Billy Quinn and Dave Oliver.
