Fire Alarm Commissioning Engineer
Location: London & South East (field-based, mainly outside the M25)
Type: Full-time, permanent
Salary: £45,000–£50,000 + company van, expenses card, paid travel
The Company: An established fire and security systems integrator delivering projects across the public sector, including the justice and transport estates.
The Role: You’ll be the commissioning lead for the southern team, bringing new fire alarm systems online across Greater London and the home counties, with very little in central London. Occasional small installs fill the gaps between commissioning jobs. There’s no call-out and no reactive service. The work is mainly on government sites, so around 70% of shifts are nights.
Key Responsibilities
- Commission, programme and hand over addressable and conventional fire alarm systems, mainly Advanced and Morley, plus Notifier and Kentec
- Fault find on new installations and liaise with installers
- Complete small device installs between commissioning projects
- Produce commissioning certificates and handover documents to BS 5839
- Plan site access with clients, including out-of-hours working
Requirements
- Comfortable working nights – around 70% of the work is night shifts
- Strong commissioning experience on Advanced or Morley; Notifier, Kentec or conventional also useful
- Good knowledge of BS 5839
- Full manual UK driving licence
- Able to pass security vetting for government sites
