Hotel dome

by Mark Rowe

Hikvision CCTV cameras are in use at Paris’ SOFITEL Arc de Triomphe Hotel. Specifically, the DS-2CD793PF-E 4CIF vandal-proof network dome camera.

The Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe is a hotel next to the Arc de Triomphe and Place de l’Etoile – all a mere 15-minute walk from the Avenue des Champs-Elysées. Nicolas Jdanoff, NOVADIS sales manager (the client of Hikvision) stated: “The Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe required something special – high quality camera resolution for a variety of external and lighting environments … and all within a discreet design. This is where the DS-2CD793PF-E really excels.”

This single Hikvision dome model is tasked with the hotel’s main hallways, emergency exits, and interior corridors leading to guests’ rooms. “Obviously, tremendous resolution is paramount for hotel security … we have to know who is going where,” Mr Jdanoff said. 4CIF real-time video in H.264 / MPEG4 / MJPEG video compression provides the resolution needed; as does the concurrent three-axis adjustment ability to track people.

The camera is tasked with both indoor and outdoor use. Mr Jdanoff said: “Often, solutions of this nature would be forced to utilize a variety of cameras and different camera manufacturers. Fortunately for both NOVADIS and the Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe, Hikvision manufactures one versatile model.” Illustrating this are a day-night auto switch and super-low illumination – two features allowing coverage within artificially-lighted internal hallways and naturally-darkened external exits.
