Manchester remembered

by Mark Rowe

The fourth annual ACS Pacesetters lunch yesterday held a minute’s silence to remember the victims of the Manchester Arena terror attack.

“It’s been a difficult 48 hours,” said David Mountford, of FM Contract Watch, the master of ceremonies at the event at Windsor racecourse. As he told the gathering – of guarding company managers and officers – some of those due to pick up awards could not attend, because they had been called by clients, or had extra work, or had been involved in the Manchester aftermath.

Before lunch came company presentations, by sponsor Cobia to Corps Security; Enigma Security Solutions; ExcluSec Security Solutions (the Trafford Park, Manchester-based firm was one of those not able to attend); Knight Security and Professional Security (no relation to the magazine). By Sutton Specialist Risks to Carillion Services; CE Security; Interr Security; and SecuriGroup Services. By Broadstone-Engage to ABM Facility Services UK; Land Sheriffs: TC Security Services; and Ward Security. By Eurotech Monitoring to Axis Security Services; First Response Group; Kingdom Security; and SmartSec Solutions. And by the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) to Cordant Security; The Keyholding Company; The Westgrove Group; UniTrust Protection Services; and Wilson James.

After lunch, and a charity raffle in aid of the RAF Benson-based Thames Valley Air Ambulance charity, officer awards went to Mohammed Ceesay and Robert Cook of Carillion Services; Megan Dorrian of The Westgrove Group; Amanda Dos Santos of Interr; Mark Evans of Westgrove; David Johnston of Land Sheriffs; Danny Jones of Kingdom; Karen Jones of Ward; Michael Lewis of Enigma Security Solutions; Mark Mason and Riaan Snyman of Wilson James; Harjeet Sandhu of Interr; The Keyholding Company’s SST team; John Stenton of Constant Security Services; James Stuckless of Axis Security; and Adeel Usman of TC Security Services. Judges added that because of a tie in voting, they had raised the number of awards from the previous 12 to 14.
