Interviews

February 2015 issue

by Mark Rowe

Landing on desks for the end of January is the February 2015 print issue of Professional Security magazine – which you can read online.

There’s more of a London feel to the publication than usual, with articles about Transport for London acting on complaints of sexual activity in some of its public toilets; the designing in of security for the hire bicycles and their locking stations around the capital, which has meant that hardly any of the distinctive blue cycles have been stolen or vandalised; Canary Wharf; how the business improvement district in the borough Camden is drawing on door staff to encourage late-night revellers to be quieter when they leave the district’s pubs and clubs; and contract security in use in the West End.

The cover article sees our North America-based regular interviewer Una Riley, pictured, in Las Vegas, where she talks to Ted Whiting about casino security at the Nevada resort. Also featured are our regular contributor Jim Gannon, who writes about the Toyota Way as applied to security management; the calendar page of events for February 2015 and into 2016; pages of ‘spending the budget’ and new products and services; pages about and for installers of security products, and network-IP products; and the regular book review page.

After featuring the Liberal Democrat former Home Office crime prevention minister Norman Baker and the Labour spokeswoman on the SIA Baroness Smith of Basildon in the January issue, we examine the record of the Conservatives in the Coalition since 2010, ahead of the May 2015 general election.

You can read past months’ issues of Professional Security magazine going back years on the magazine website.

And for the March issue, expect words and pictures from Security TWENTY 15 Nottingham, the first ST15 conference and exhibition of the year run by Professional Security on Tuesday, February 3.
