October 2016 magazine

by Mark Rowe

Now on our website for you to read online; the October 2016 print issue of Professional Security magazine. As ever we try to offer something of interest, whatever your security management interest.

This latest issue features the carbon footprint of crime, venue security at the Rugby 2015 World Cup, how one central London landmark has taken advantage of its courtyard to add a layer of security for bag searches, what the gambling regulator wants casinos to do, and what counts as heroism (and do you or should you want security officers to be heroes?). And on the technology side, drones (as aids to guarding and event operations), plus our usual pages on networked security products and case studies.

Plus the regular book review page, our regular contributors Una Riley (who previews the Women in Security awards) and Jim Gannon (who returns to fraud, this time looking at how ticket-buyers are suffering), four pages of new products, pages on guarding, retail loss prevention, and about and for installers and installations.

As ever we are out and about; we bring you words and pictures from the recent black tie Association of Security Consultants’ 25th anniversary dinner in London (pictured; the piper that piped in guests on the night), and one of the Hikvision roadshows around the country in September.

Last but not least we cover travel security; that is, emergency aid for business travellers, whether security or medical, a topic we will return to in the November 2016 issue.
