Access Store

by msecadm4921

Access Direct has launched its new online store, www.access-control.co.uk

It’s aimed at smaller businesses, and security installers.  The site will be selling systems that can be installed by in-house IT departments, or by local specialist installers, where there are one or two doors that need to be secured.

Access Direct will be supplying the HID Edge solution which includes embedded software enabling administrators to set up users from their desktop and to define the time limitations when each user may go through a door.  The system provides reporting of who went through the door at what time, it notes when a door was left open or forced and can be linked to other systems, such as CCTV systems.

The system uses Power over Ethernet (PoE), so as well as using the existing CAT 5 Ethernet infrastructure rather than requiring its own cabling, the Edge also takes power from the Ethernet.  These two features cut the cost of installation significantly as there is no requirement for additional power sockets or cabling, the firm says.

What they say

Simon Barnes, Director of Network Access Solutions EMEA for HID said: “Having worked closely with the Access Direct team over the past year, I have witnessed first hand the dedication, technical competence and customer commitment that is prevalent within the entire company. Good prices and great service really do go hand in hand at Access Direct."

And Mark Nutter, Managing Director of Access Direct said: “Our aim is to undercut the market and provide the best value software-based access control solutions. Currently there are very few solutions for the smaller business that just wants to secure one or two doors within its premises.  We aim to address this market and provide a very flexible product that is easy to install and manage. It is our belief that the software-based solutions, while just a few tens of pounds per door more than a purely hardware based system, provide infinitely better value to the business because of the additional control capabilities and the reporting features.”

The site is up and running; prices for a complete kit for a single door start from £325.
