After smarti Electra won last year, Slovenian firm TAB Systems says it was pleasantly surprised when its new smarti Guardeon unit was access control product of the year at the IFSEC 2010 awards.
Guardeon combines the company’s core biometric access control with a built-in proximity card reader. This product integrates other features: time and attendance, building automation, video intercom, video and IP phone, video messaging and video surveillance. It’s protocol independent and so can be used to control almost any kind of electronic device, the makers say, such as sensors, electronic locks, lights, alarms and fingerprint scanners. The product is meant for indoor and outdoor use, and is in-wall or on-wall mountable. It has an eight inch industrial grade sun readable colour LCD display and a resistant touch screen, integrated RFID and MIFARE reader, motion detector, microphone and speakers.
