Nick Ross, presenter of BBC1?s Crimewatch, was invited to officially open Hillingdon Council?s new œ104,000 CCTV control room in memory of Jill Dando, who was President of Hillingdon Crime Prevention Panel. Pictures from 35 CCTV cameras in Uxbridge, Hayes and Ruislip town centres go to the Civic Centre control room?s bank of 22 screens, monitored around the clock. Another 54 cameras covering St Dunstan?s Close, Hayes, Cedars and Grainges multi-storey car parks in Uxbridge, the Civic Centre and the council?s Harlington Road depot are also monitored by the council-employed monitoring staff. can transmit pictures of incidents to Uxbridge police station as they occur. Thanks to single regeneration bid funding, Yiewsley and West Drayton town centres will have CCTV shortly, plus the Manor Farm heritage site in Ruislip and Windsor Street, Uxbridge.
