The resort of Boscombe, which comes under Bournemouth Borough Council, has cameras linked to the local authority?s main CCTV system. JVC TK-C1480 Super LoLux cameras cover Boscombe?s main pedestrian shopping precinct and the roads leading to and from the area. Bournemouth CCTV Manager Norman Rice says: ?Boscombe has its own particular problems and many of them are, sadly, drug-related. The Boscombe system is monitored from the shopping precinct by the team which runs the Shop Radio Scheme and when the shops close, it switches across to become part of the main Bournemouth system.? The main operation was one of the first in the UK to gain Home Office funding and the council saw the Boscombe extension, at around œ55,000, as value for money.
