Cabins For Doocey

by msecadm4921

After previously hiring in all the mobile welfare cabins it needed, the Doocey Group of Tipton in the West Midlands has now purchased five Comfort Space units from Grantham-based Boss Cabins Ltd….

Supplied to M&A Doocey Plant Hire Solutions, these new welfare facilities will provide it’s claimed a more pleasant working environment for the site personnel of M&A Doocey Civil Engineering including those working on a utility contract awarded to Morgan Sindall by Severn Trent Water.

Established in 1981, the Doocey Group is a family business which now carries out not only utility contracting but also construction services, directional drilling, plant hire and traffic management. Its new Comfort Space mobile welfare cabins were officially handed over by Boss Cabins’ Managing Director Graham Stansfield to Kevin Doocey (Group Managing Director), Stephen Doocey (Operations Director) and Mark Doocey (Plant Hire Director).

Stephen Doocey says: “These Comfort Space cabins were selected because they are cost effective, durable units that will greatly enhance the comfort of our workforce on site. They provide good security and allow us to more than satisfy the HSE guidelines covering the provision of welfare facilities at transient construction sites.”

Produced in Boss Cabins’ new factory in Grantham, the rugged Comfort Space welfare unit can ably accommodate up to six persons. It is a road towable anti-vandal cabin with an operating weight of 1730kg. Security on site is aided by the ability to hydraulically lower the whole cabin down onto the ground to hide its road wheels and then cover the tow bar with a lockable steel shroud.

Featuring a wear resistant interior, the cabin provides a canteen/rest area, a toilet / washroom and a drying room. It is supplied with an integral 6.0kVA Stephill SD6000WD super silent generator that is powered by a Yanmar L100 single cylinder diesel engine.

Graham Stansfield, who runs Boss Cabins with Director Tim Allan says: “We have reacted to market research by producing an uncomplicated welfare cabin that is simple to use and easy to maintain and keep clean. We use high quality British sourced products wherever possible and, as hands-on company owners, we are able to provide superior customer support in terms of both product selection advice and after sales service.”

As well as the standard Comfort Space specification, Boss Cabins can offer the option of an Eco-Assist power management system. This has a fully integrated AC inverter and gel batteries (complete with charging system and battery voltage regulator) so that generator running time is greatly reduced.

Recently launched is a simplified ‘hybrid’ Comfort Space cabin whose heating and lighting can be used without the generator operating. This unit’s simple eco system utilises a 2kW Webasto air heating system (which takes diesel from the onboard fuel tank) and one battery with a smaller AC inverter to provide the lighting. The fuel saving result is that the generator only deployed in short bursts just to provide power for the kettle, microwave and hot water.
