Haulage Seminar

by msecadm4921

Despite repeated advice and increased prevention measures, security is an escalating problem for road hauliers and now accounts for annual losses of £1 billion.

So reports the Road Haulage Association. The RHA claims the issue does not figure strongly on the horizon of the Home Office or the police.

There are no targets, no key performance indicators and no resources allocated to this specialised area. As a result, there is a shortage of resources and no consistency in police forces or between forces. It  appears to come into the “too difficult” category, according to the RHA. There are one or two beacons of best practice in individual police forces but they are the exceptions that make the rule painfully obvious.

To help raise awareness of crimes against transport companies and their freight the RHA is holding its annual security seminar at Towcester Racecourse, Northampton, on Tuesday, March 11.  New products and practical, haulier-focused initiatives designed to help companies protect themselves from criminals will be on show. The seminar sessions, “Combating Freight Crime” will include a line-up of speakers and will be chaired by John Stalker, former Deputy Chief Constable of Greater Manchester.

The cost of this event is £49 plus VAT for RHA members and £149 plus VAT for non-members and includes entry to the seminar, exhibition, refreshments and lunch.
