US manufacturer Lenel has announced the latest upgrade to its OnGuard product suite.

US manufacturer Lenel has announced the latest upgrade to its OnGuard product suite. OnGuard 2002 delivers new features that streamline administration and maintenance, facilitate internationalization, enhance integration with other systems and incorporate new technologies to provide a total security solution for the customer. Rudy Prokupets, Lenel?s Chief Technology Officer , says: ?OnGuard 2002 integrates extraordinary new capabilities while maintaining Lenel?s Total Security Knowledge Management Solutions pledge to the market. With our newest release, Lenel continues to revolutionize the industry, offering unmatched performance, reliability and flexibility to serve customer installations of any size worldwide.? OnGuard 2002 uses Unicode, a worldwide character set standard. Unicode enables a single software product to be targeted across multiple platforms, languages and countries without reengineering. By utilizing the Unicode standard, Lenel can now support double-byte character sets to facilitate adaptation of the OnGuard user interface and documentation to new international markets. This enhanced flexibility will allow Lenel to expand its multilingual OnGuard portfolio, which already includes English, French and Spanish versions. Portuguese, German, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese and Hebrew language versions of OnGuard are slated for release by first quarter, 2002. With the OnGuard 2002 release, Lenel introduces a video chassis that can store up to a Terabyte of video information, the highest capacity available on the market. A new digital video board offers the ability to record 30 frames per second in real-time for each camera. Other enhancements include a new matrix view of video windows, a digital zoom feature, dry contact support for all DVSM recorders, and LDVS NET software, with which a camera can be connected to a network port and assigned an IP address, making it accessible from anywhere on the network. OnGuard 2002 has the ability to receive multiple alarms from many panels in many different formats. A receiver acts as a central communication point for all of the panels configured to connect to it. When an event occurs on a panel, the panel reports the event to the receiver, which in turn reports the event to the OnGuard alarm monitoring module. OnGuard can then process the alarm like any other alarm in the system. This feature offers tight integration of OnGuard 2002 with other systems on the market. Because the customer?s existing hardware investment is preserved, total cost of ownership is reduced. The Lenel Scheduler provides a mechanism by which report generation and archival operations (including database purges and data archival to an offline file) can be automatically scheduled. In previous releases of OnGuard, reports and archival tasks had to be scheduled manually. OnGuard 2002 was designed to optimize the abilities of the Microsoft?s latest operating systems, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. OnGuard 2002 also supports the SQL Server, Oracle and Microsoft Development Engine (MSDE) database standards. MSDE offers entry level installations all of the power and benefits of SQL Server in a free runtime version, and supports Unicode. OnGuard 2002 provides a method for centrally managing users, ID credentials and access privileges in both electronic (physical) and IT (logical) domains. An event that occurs in one of those domains can be configured to trigger an action in the other domain. For example, when an employee is terminated, OnGuard 2002 can both invalidate the person?s ID/facility access badge AND terminate his or her accounts on the corporate network. See www.lenel.com
