LIVE Look

by msecadm4921

At eight venues across England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic: 25 brands. Professional Security takes a look at what is in store for visitors to Norbain LIVE 2005.

Now in its third year the Norbain LIVE format extends its reach across the Irish Sea to visit both Belfast and Dublin for the largest series yet.

Huw Edwards, Marketing Communications Manager at Norbain explains that the venues are especially chosen to ensure they are easily accessible to as many visitors as possible: "We believe Norbain LIVE is the most accessible of any current security trade shows. Installers and Specifiers value the environment we create that facilitates real discussion and debate about the solutions available today. For their part manufacturers increasingly recognise Norbain LIVE as a suitable platform to launch new products."

Of visitors to Norbain LIVE04, Lee Buckenham of Hawkeye Systems of Huntingdon said: "I came to LIVE04 with the aim of looking at products in more depth than is possible at the big exhibitions, and I’ve done that. The show has been extremely useful to me." Phil Barclay, General Manager of installation specialists Bar-Tec of Inverness, said of the Glasgow show: "It was a chance to catch up on some products I had not had the chance to see before, and there was time to talk them through in detail with the manufacturers. A very useful show for me at a great venue."

LIVE will again feature a competition this year to bridge the gap between registering interest in attending LIVE and making it to one of the venues. All pre-registered visitors who visit one of the venues will be entered into a draw for an Apple iPod Photo. "This is far more than a promotion", believes Huw Edwards. "We really do want to reward visitors and acknowledge that it is the visitor that makes LIVE a success."

This year’s seminar programme currently features three presentations geared to helping installers to improve their own business performance.

Driving up Profits presents seven value-added ways to improve sales and further use the data that security systems create. System Integration will seek to fill in some gaps in installer knowledge, particularly with regard to IP based controls and product interfaces. The third seminar is also of interest to end users. The impact of moving to digital video evidence will consider the technical and practical issues relating to using digital images as evidence.

James Walker, Managing Director of digital CCTV manufacturer Dallmeier electronic UK Ltd said that the Norbain LIVE events play an important role towards communicating product development and a strong working partnership between Norbain, its suppliers and customer base: "The locations chosen, put together with the technology and lively seminar programme, afford companies like Dallmeier electronic the opportunity to display their product range across the UK and Ireland to a very specific and well targeted audience."

Emphasis on quality of the audience was echoed by Steve Proctor, Sales Director at NVT Ltd: "Norbain Live always provides the ideal platform for new business as well as the ideal opportunity to meet existing users. Every year Norbain Live enters the business diary the same time as IFSEC, that’s how important we consider it. The national coverage, the quality of the venues and the overall customer attendance makes it an event simply not to be missed."

Andrew Harries of Optex (Europe) said of LIVE: "Unlike the bigger security industry exhibitions, Norbain LIVE actually allows you to spend time with a potential customer and provide them with the information they want, without worrying about the thousands of other stands they need to visit in a short space of time."

Among the exhibitors at Norbain LIVE, the following selection of highlights:

Baxall will be showing its two latest product ranges, Baxall Ice and the Vivid range of DVRs. Vivid DVRs use the new JPEG2000 compression technology giving better picture quality at lower storage rates than competitors’ products, it is claimed.

Access Control specialist, Bewator, will be showcasing its latest integrated security solutions at the London, Blackpool, Birmingham and Cardiff venues. Among the products on display, Bewator will exhibit its Entro 5 access control system, SOLARIS dome camera, and latest Mid-range DVR, Eventys Lite.

Door entry / Access Control specialist BPT Security Systems (UK) Ltd. will be displaying a selection of its products including: X1 two wire video entry control system with self learning; Ophera semi-recessed colour monitor; Impro Vista Graphica working in real context between Vista’s Triplex DVR and Impro IXP400 access control system.

With the DF2000A Dallmeier electronic reports it is setting new standards in the field of video camera technology for security applications. With the UWDR technology (Ultra Wide Dynamic Range), the DF2000A has the advantage over all previously known processes, it is claimed, in that it can display considerably more details in shaded and very bright sections of a picture.

Paxton will be exhibiting Access Net2 networked access control makes managing large sites, or multiple sites with hundreds of users simple, it is claimed.

Samsung Techwin will be demonstrating their new Wide Dynamic Range Day/Night camera, the SHC-730. This high performance camera incorporates SSNR and SV III technologies.
