The custodial and security product, lock designer and manufacturer Pickersgill-Kaye is now selling directly its own range of Multipoint locks, bolts and access systems.
The Leeds-based firm says that this new venture is a strategic expansion of the company’s activities and demonstrates the firm’s commitment to the development and support of this range, which was previously marketed through Adams Rite.
Available in surface mounted and mortice versions, the High Security Multipoint portfolio includes emergency and panic exit devices, and specialised function locks with modular lock cases to suit either panic bar, paddle handle or lever operation. Manufactured entirely in Britain, all the firm’s multi and single point locks are it’s claimed aesthetically designed to complement the modern workplace.
Peter Murphy, managing director of Pickersgill-Kaye, sees taking sales in-house as a natural progression. "We design and manufacture the locks so it makes common sense that we should also be selling them," he said. "This range was developed in partnership with Adams Rite but we now have the organisation and skills to manage the marketing and sales ourselves. This direct relationship has enormous benefits for us in quality control and market-led product development and also gives our customers a far better pricing structure."
The range of locks, bolts and fittings has been the firm adds developed to meet exacting standards of physical attack but maintain safe and easy exit, when needed, without compromising health and safety issues. The products are tested to BS EN standards for panic and emergency exit as well as undergoing independent blast testing, cycle testing in excess of 1 million cycles and being fire tested, to European BS EN standards, as part of a secure doorset.
Suitable for both steel and wooden doors, the range incorporates several operational options to conform to current fire safety standards and DDA regulations and can be integrated with specialised access control requirements or configurations to meet most applications. The High Security Multipoint locks are constructed with hardened steel bolts and stainless steel lock cases.
Pickersgill-Kaye has already advised customers of the move to direct sales. "All our products have a long standing reputation for performance, strength, security and durability," Mr Griffiths added. "The Multipoint Locking range is recognisably a part of this family. Single source manufacture and sales gives us the advantage of being able to respond faster than suppliers who outsource their products and we plan to capitalise on these strengths to grow our presence in this market."
