PTZ Dome Adds

by msecadm4921

Samsung has added to its SCP range of PTZ domes.

The ten new day/night operation dome models collectively offer the choice of 27x, 33x or 37x optical zoom capability and provide options for internal and external use. Applications according to the makers include car parks, shopping centres, trading estates, airports and ports.

The W-V chipset provides cameras with the ability to capture colour images at up to 600 TV lines colour resolution. They also incorporate Super Dynamic Range (SSDR) which automatically lightens the dark areas within a scene, so an operator can ‘view’ objects in the shadows. Other features include Highlight Compensation which neutralises excessively bright areas of an image enabling an operator to view previously hidden details and Digital Image Stabilisation (DIS) that can negate the effects of a dome shaking due to high winds or building vibration.

The SV-V chipset shares all the features of the W-V chipset including Samsung Super Noise Reduction (SSNRIII) technology, but it also provides cameras with Wide Dynamic Range and Progressive scan to allow them to deliver outstanding picture quality even in the most demanding of applications. Progressive Scan technology is able to achieve quality video capture of moving objects, making it possible, for example, to read car number plates on moving vehicles without a motion blur effect. Another feature of the SV-V chipset is the addition of Intelligent Video Analytics (IVA) capability, which is able to perform functions such as appear/disappear detection.

Peter Ainsworth, Senior European Product Manager for Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd, says: “There is a large diversity of reasons why surveillance cameras are used and an equally large number of different environments where cameras may physically be installed. With this in mind, our design engineers have included our very popular W-V and SV-V chipsets into these new models, each of which have their own specific standout features to enable installers and system integrators to choose the perfect dome camera for the job in hand.”

Two models in the range, the SCP-3370TH SV-V DSP dome and SCP-2370TH W-V DSP dome, have an automatic tracking feature which equips them to detect and automatically follow a moving object within a specified target area without operator intervention, making them suitable for perimeter protection and out-of-hours applications.

All ten models in the new SCP range have coaxial control compatibility allowing video and telemetry to be transmitted via the coaxial cable, giving access to camera set-up and pan-tilt-zoom functions via a compatible Digital Video Recorder (DVR), such as selected models in Samsung’s SRD series of DVRs. The technology offers the potential of it’s claimed cost savings through the reduction of cabling infrastructure, while providing flexibility for retro-fit applications by allowing existing equipment to be upgraded quickly and easily.

Available from Samsung distributors, the SCP domes are available with the option of a selection of fixing brackets and are offered with full support services from Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd., including free system design, free technical support and a full three-year warranty.
