Remploy Win

by msecadm4921

A three-year council contract for the day-to day management of CCTV monitoring services has gone to Remploy, a provider of employment for disabled people.

East Staffordshire awarded the contract for Burton on Trent and Uttoxeter town centres after Remploy was brought in to manage the service on a short-term basis in 2003. Lynne Smith, Assistant Chief Executive for Community Services, at the Burton-based borough council, said: "Remploy was selected from a number of companies tendering for the contract and it was the clear leader. It has been selected for the combination of quality and value.” Ian Fereday of Remploy Managed Services said: “More and more local authorities are turning to us, and we are becoming the partner of choice for town centre monitoring." Remploy staff now monitor more than 40 town and city centres. Councils who recently appointed or confirmed the company include West Cornwall, Bassetlaw, Lancaster, Tunbridge Wells and the Forth valley authorities in Central Scotland.
