Roster Buy

by msecadm4921

Outsourced control room service provider Gallinet Ltd has bought RCS Ltd.

The deal includes the source code to the rostering and scheduling system Peoplehours. Gallinet will continue to develop and sell RCS’s software products with RCS founder Roy Ferris being retained with the developers behind RotaMaster & RotaWin.

Gallinet MD Marcus Kerr says: “I have used RCS’s software in numerous control rooms for nearly 15 years, in its various flavours. My association with RCS commenced at Scruttons Security when we were RCS’s third customer. I suspect that there are few in the industry that have not encountered RCS’ software at one point or another during their careers”

After selling his interest in Sword Security, Marcus, and the controllers he had employed for many years began operating their dedicated control room using the Peoplehours system to monitor the booking on, off and check calls of over 3,000 security officers, door supervisors and lone workers during a typical week.

Control Room Director Kevin Harrap said: “In addition to the scheduled welfare calls, we receive all manner of communications from staff on site, anything from uniform replacement requests to calls for urgent assistance and of course the occasional blow-out. Regardless of the content of the call Peoplehours allows my controllers to record and act on the call immediately with our customers being able to monitor us in real-time via a web interface.”

Roy Ferris MD and founder of RCS Ltd said: “Peoplehours fulfils the old who monitors the monitors issue. I have known Marcus for many years and his knowledge of the security industry is second to none. GalliNet provides a first class service using Peoplehours and everyone at RCS is looking forward to a successful future as part of the Gallinet organisation." Gallinet intend to continue to develop the software for use by the security industry using its own experience of operating a control room to guide future development.

“Peoplehours has some very useful features and many more in development that will benefit all customers, those that we monitor or those companies that wish to operate their own control room alike,” Marcus added. “RCS has been a giant in control room monitoring software for many years and we are very excited to have it within the Gallinet banner.”
