SIA Aims

by msecadm4921

The Security Industry Authority reports that it has changed its licence processing targets to reflect the continuous improvements it has made in this area.

Previously, the SIA aimed to process 85 per cent of licence applications from UK and EEA nationals within 33 working days, and 80 per cent of all licence applications (UK, EEA and other) within 40 working days (eight weeks).

The SIA now aims to process a minimum of 80 per cent of all correctly completed applications within 30 working days (six weeks), irrespective of the nationality of the applicant. The regulator points to its latest licence processing figures:

April 2010, 94pc of all applications were processed within 30 working days.

May 2010, 95pc of all applications were processed within 30 working days.

Christy Hopkins, Assistant Director of Customer Services, said: “We have made our target harder – 30 working days, because it reflects the improvements we have made to our processes and the fact that we want to improve the service we provide. Our customers demand from us an effective and efficient licensing process and we are committed to providing better service.”
