Europe´s top certificates from a single source

by msecadm4921

The acceleration of marketability is becoming increasingly important for safety and security products. // VdS shared tests together with its French partner organisation CNPP for over 50 Honeywell products in a pilot project.

An important success factor for manufacturers of safety and security technology is the speed at which their innovations are made available in global markets. Therefore Germany-based VdS is cooperating with other top-class testing and certification bodies such as the French CNPP (Centre National de Prévention et de Protection) in order to support its global customers with optimal service. More than 50 Honeywell products, including intrusion alarm systems, various warning devices and modules, were recently tested and certified by both institutes in a special project.

“Manufacturers of security technology tend to operate more and more internationally – and as usual they can rely on VdS to support them”, explains Günter Grundmann, Head of the VdS Laboratories for electronic security products. “Our customers profit from our cooperation with other testing and certification authorities in Europe. Since we accept each other´s test results on a reciprocal basis, they save time and money. Honeywell benefits here in several ways. Thanks to the cooperation with CNPP, the testing capacity was doubled and Honeywell received all certificates for more than 50 products from both institutes in a much shorter time”

In the process, Honeywell placed particular value on documenting the high quality of their innovations by a Level 5 certification – the highest quality certificate which is accordingly accepted in Europe by official bodies. Darren Owens, Regulatory and Product Conformity Manager, Honeywell Europe, Middle East and Africa, is pleased with the cooperation: “This is our idea of a strong testing partner: We receive the certificates for a large line of our innovations for Europe with a shared contract – and that at double speed.”

Grundmann adds: “In addition, we also discuss with CNPP on measures for combined product surveillance – this again will save our customers both money and time expenditure.” VdS also offers a cooperation similar to that with CNPP with the English Institute BRE.
