Investing in the environment

by msecadm4921

Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies has announced the latest initiative in its commitment to fulfilling its strong environmental policy.

Following on from being awarded the important ISO 14001:2004 accreditation, the company has signed up to a new recycling deal with waste contractor Veolia. Veolia’s accurate reporting system will ensure the company knows exactly where its waste has gone together with the knowledge that any waste that cannot be recycled will be used to generate power.

The ‘zero waste to landfill’ scheme will minimise the effect on the environment and far exceed the company’s corporate target of a 5% reduction in landfill waste year on year. This will have an immediate and dramatic effect on the company’s carbon footprint and is a further example of how Ingersoll Rand is putting its sustainability strategy into action.

Luis De Leon Chardel, Vice President Operations, at Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies comments, “Large manufacturers like us need to take their social responsibilities seriously. Over several years, we have put in place a stringent policy to minimise our impact on the environment and encourage our employees to consider what they can do both at the workplace and at home. This is an exciting step forward which dramatically reduces our impact on the planet.”
