Career routes and apprenticeship talk

by Mark Rowe

Spotlight Talks have the aim of inspiring careers excellence and will bring together UK employers and apprentices to inspire more young people, from all walks of life, to take up technical career routes and apprenticeships.

WorldSkills UK Live is a UK skills, apprenticeships and careers event; pre-pandemic, in November at the NEC in Birmingham. The Electronic Security Systems Competition was launched in 2019, but, the live event was cancelled in 2020. The competition, which returns for 2021, is organised by the skills body Skills for Security, with product manufacturers CSL, Hikvision and Texecom as headline sponsors. The competition is the final part of the security side of Engineers of Tomorrow competition, which recently announced registration is open for this year.

A4FS is the industry initiative that places young people into careers in the fire and security industry. The aim; to match young people with an apprenticeship within the sector. As the organisers say, the fire and security industry offers a range of career paths including electrical engineering, product design and security guarding.

The session runs on Wednesday, March 24 from 9:10am to 9:40am. To register to attend visit the WorldSkills UK website.
