CREST approved provider

by Mark Rowe

Immersive Labs, the UK cyber security company that offers cloud-based cyber training and assessment, reports that over 100 labs on its platform have been deemed suitable learning resources to help cyber security people study for their CREST CSPA and CREST CRT examinations.

Ian Glover, president of CREST, said: “The primary aims of CREST are to build capacity, capability and consistency in the technical cyber security industry. Education, training and professional development are an essential part of achieving these aims. Our relationship with training organisations is very important to ensure individuals have the opportunity to fill gaps in their skills and hone their experience prior to sitting the CREST examinations.

“The buyers of training services must have confidence in the quality of the courses. CREST provides this confidence through its Approved Training Provider programme. CREST is delighted to welcome Immersive Labs as a CREST Approved Training Provider. The lab-based training allows candidates to experiment and learn to use tools and techniques that closely replicate what we expect penetration testers to do in the real world.”

Immersive Labs’ software-as-a service cyber skills platform streams real-world exercises on demand, through browser based labs. Users are immersed in real challenges and must develop their skills to complete the exercises. Gamification is at the heart of every lab, meaning users are rewarded for each one they complete and employers can set learning journeys for their members of staff. The CREST approved labs are sign-posted with in the Immersive Labs platform with the CREST logo, so that users can see that skills developed in these labs will help them achieve CREST professional accreditations.

James Hadley, CEO and founder of Immersive Labs said: “Immersive Labs’ status as a CREST Approved Training Provider is a further testament to the effectiveness of our gamified approach when it comes to upskilling cyber security professionals. Users are not spoon-fed information and are encouraged to learn through a hands-on approach with labs spun up in a browser-based, competitive environment that is conducive to developing the practical skills needed to excel in a career in cyber security.”

Immersive Labs are giving live demonstrations of the platform at Infosecurity Europe 2018 at London Olympia this week.
