EPIC in May

May 25 is the next quarterly meeting of EPIC (Ex-Police in Industry and Commerce), in London. As in previous years the venue is the Willis Building in Lime Street in the City of London.  

 

 

After a welcome by EPIC chairman,  David Ryan, speakers include Dr Alison Wakefield, Senior Lecturer in Security and Risk Management, University of Portsmouth, on security industry sector qualifications; Claudia Gerrard, Legal Director, Ortolan Legal Ltd, on legal issues in the security industry; and Tim Hart from MUSC and William Miller of SCR (Special Contingency Risks) who will cover Samali piracy. William Miller is a Divisional Director within SCR’s corporate client broking team based in London; heads  the Maritime Intelligence division of Maritime and Underwater Security Consultants. 

Red Flag Alert is the main sponsor of the day. Crawford Chalmers, the deputy chair of EPIC, is the event organiser. 

The meeting after is in Derby on October 9 and includes the group’s agm.  

Briefly, EPIC is open to retired UK police officers in receipt of a police pension.
