SIA renewals service

The Security Industry Authority is running a pilot scheme for its new e-Renewals service for companies before launch in March. The regulator says that new service allows employers to renew licences or apply for additional licences on behalf of their staff.

If a licence holder provides their permission, you can submit a renewal application on their behalf without the need of a signature. The service is fully online and so there is no need to print or submit documents. The SIA says that it has been engaging with companies throughout the project to ensure that the service is tailored to their needs. The SIA reports that the pilot with selected companies which has been going well and the regulator will be increasing the number of pilot sessions over the next few weeks.

As of last week the SIA have received and processed 507 applications and has already granted 322 licences.

Assistant Director Customer Service & Quality Improvement, Christy Hopkins said: “Our aim is to reduce cost, simplify the application process and help businesses to manage the licensing process of their employees. The pilot has been extremely successful and the feedback from each company that has used the e-Renewals service has been very positive. This is just the latest in a series of initiatives aimed at improving the services we offer our customers and there are more to come in the year ahead.”
