Mike Tennent, Managing Director of Hampshire-based trainers Tavcom recently took part in an award ceremony at Highbury College, Portsmouth to mark the achievements of students with learning difficulties.
Paper Dreams, part of Highbury Collegeโs Foundation Studies department, provides training for adults with learning disabilities to improve their chances of finding work. The Quality of Service award presented by Mike recognised the service that Paper Dreams had provided to Tavcom over the last five years.
Students who attend the Paper Dreams training have assisted Tavcom by printing, compiling and binding course material for the hundreds of security industry training courses run every year at the companyโs Bishops Waltham centre. Mike said: โRather like the security professionals who improve their skills when they use the โhands-onโ facilities in our workshops, the Paper Dreams students are able to obtain work experience by providing a service to companies such as Tavcom. It is a commercial arrangement but we are nevertheless very pleased to be able to contribute to the opportunities for the students to gain real-life practical skills and they have told us that they are thrilled that Tavcom students across the world are recipients of their good work.โ
