Innovation Award 2023

by Mark Rowe

The annual invite-only Home Office exhibition, Security and Policing 2023, includes the ADS Security and Innovation Award 2023. Six finalists have been shortlisted.

The award, now in its 18th year, is for those that have caused a step change in the effectiveness of the UK’s ability to prevent, respond to, and reduce the impact of, or investigate risks and incidents, say organisers.

Entries are judged against four criteria: innovation, uniqueness in the market, market demand, and clear impact on addressing security and resilience issues. Submissions were reviewed by a panel of judges drawn from Government, academia, and industry. In alphabetical order, the six are:

Adarga: The Adarga Knowledge Platform (AKP) is helping organisations to rapidly identify risks, threats and opportunities buried within volumes of information. It enables analysts, researchers, and planners to provide decision-makers with more accurate, comprehensive, granular, and sophisticated insights into defence and security issues and situations.

Blue Lights Digital: the Odyssey Digital Forensics Support tool can extract proportionate targeted data sets via victim devices on scene, leaving devices with those that need them, improving the service to victims and investigation outcomes.

Detego Global: Detego Analyse AI analytics and workflow automation integrates forensic acquisitions from thousands of devices, providing analysis, intelligence, and court-ready evidential reports through an interface.

Kromek LTD: Static Node R provides real-time detection, identification of gamma and neutron radiation inside a compact frame that can be moved from location to location and can be deployed into areas that need heightened radiation detection.

Saadian Technologies: PINS 5 – Prisoner Intelligence Notification System, is the latest version of PINS, used to help UK police prevent and investigate crime related to offenders released from prison.

Sesanti Ltd: ULARI, is an ultra-low-light-level long-range camera, developed for defence and security applications where the positive identification of individuals at range is imperative to aid saving lives and is time critical.

Angela Essel, Head of the Joint Security and Resilience Centre said: “Without doubt, this year’s ADS Innovation Award finalists truly reflect the breadth of skill and expertise the UK security sector has to offer. Each solution demonstrates an understanding of the challenges faced in keeping people and infrastructure safe and utilises innovation to meet these challenges.”
