The ATM Security 2013 Conference runs on October 22 and 23 in London.

Day one, the Tuesday, will close with details of ATMIA’s 2013 Global Fraud Survey, presented by Flora Hamilton, Executive Director, ATMIA Europe (UK). A Wednesday, UK speaker is Adam Thorpe, Creative Director, Design Against Crime Research Centre, on the art of designing out crime against cashpoint machines. The research centre at Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design, observed the impact of installing ATM ‘art mats’ at Nat est ATMs in the London boroughs of Westminster and Camden. The hypothesis: that ‘art mats’ in front of ATMs would deter queuing customers, and passing pedestrians, from moving close to cashpoint users and thus reduce opportunities for shoulder surfing and distraction theft.

At the conference at the Victoria Park Plaza Hotel, one of the exhibitors Diebold will address automated teller machine (ATM) security threats: card and currency fraud , logical attacks and physical attack s .

Diebold’s Martin Koffijberg, ATM security man, will present a case study about solid explosive ATM attacks. The presentation will feature a financial institution in South Africa that has been mitigating such attacks.

The ATM Security 2013 Conference is organised by the trade body ATMIA.
