Award for demonstrator

by Mark Rowe

UK Security Expo 2016 took the award for the most innovative ‘Best Feature’ for the Home Office and CPNI Crowded Places Demonstrator at the Exhibition News Awards ceremony in front of 1100 attendees at the ICC Capital, ExCeL London, on March 30.

With the Home Office Joint Security and Resilience Centre (JSaRC) and the UK Security Service Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI) the Crowded Places Demonstrator at UK Security Expo was an interactive feature, which showcased technologies from 24 SME companies in a real-life setting. A shortlist of finalists included event organisers Clarion, UBM, Media 10 and Closer Still.

UK Security Expo Chief Executive, Peter Jones, said: “we are thrilled to win this award as this is not just a proud moment for the show team, it’s also an important illustration of how government, via the Home Office JSaRC and CPNI can engage with industry to deliver a joint solution to a global security challenge. It was also a significant opportunity to help position the UK as a centre-of-excellence for security and through cooperation with the Department for International Trade DSO, 39 Official Hosted Country Delegations were able to see this award winning solution in action, further helping to boost UK Security Exports.”

Paul Swift, Director at Worth Events, who were selected as the feature-builder said: “This was a very complex feature with three interlinked zones and extensive logistical and technical requirements and we are delighted to be honoured with this award.”

Peter Jones added: “The EN Awards are the Oscars of our industry and to be recognised by the judges, all of whom are experts in their respective fields, is a true honour. As well as the dedicated team behind UK Security Expo, I would like to thank everyone involved with delivering this feature.”

The EN Judging panel said: “A great feature on the show floor can leave a lasting impression on visitors and exhibitors. This unique award acknowledges the collaborative nature of a successful feature, and we congratulate UK Security Expo and HM Government on the Crowded Places Demonstrator which actively encouraged visitor participation, allowing the audience to see the products in action in real life scenarios helping them to imagine how they can use these technologies in their own organisations. We congratulate Peter Jones and UK Security Expo on winning this hotly contested award.”
