BSIA annual luncheon

by Mark Rowe

The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) is recognising the industry’s finest talent at its upcoming Annual Luncheon, on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the London Hilton on Park Lane.

This flagship event is for members and colleagues from across the industry to come together to celebrate industry, while networking with VIPs from Government, police and others.

The event also provides a platform to give recognition to the contributions that security personnel make to the industry and the wider community each and every day, through the association’s awardd. Awards will be presented to the national winners of Annual Security Personnel Awards, Apprentice Installer Awards, CVIT Special Awards and BSIA Chairman’s Awards, enabling personnel to be recognised for a range of achievements.

Chief Executive of the BSIA, James Kelly, says: “The association’s annual luncheon is always a highlight in the security calendar and one that I know many of our members look forward to every year. The BSIA is proud to represent the very best of the security industry and our annual awards programme enables us to showcase the enormous amount of talent that is present within the industry.”

The awards will be presented by former British Army officer and inspirational speaker Chris Moon, who will also be delivering a keynote speech. Chris spent time clearing landmines in Asia and Africa, and survived being taken prisoner in Cambodia by the Khmer Rouge by successfully negotiating his own release and that of two colleagues from threatened execution.

In 1995, he was blown up in a supposedly safe area of a minefield in remote East Africa, losing an arm and a leg. Within a year of leaving hospital, Chris ran the London Marathon and raised significant sums of money to help disabled people in the developing world. He later became the world’s first amputee ultra-distance runner and completed the gruelling Marathon Des Sables in 1997 and has subsequently completed the world’s toughest ultra-marathons.

Chris Moon’s keynote speech and the presentation of awards will follow a three course a la carte luncheon with wine.

James Kelly adds: “I’d like to encourage anyone involved in the UK’s private security industry to join the BSIA at our Annual Luncheon this year. The event is always well attended by colleagues from all sectors of the industry and presents a great opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the industry over the past year.”

Tickets are available at a cost of £135 plus VAT per person for BSIA members or £150 + VAT per person for non-BSIA members. Tickets can be booked via the association’s website at www.bsia.co.uk/events or by contacting the events team on 0203 585 1447 or emailing [email protected].
