Corby Cop Shop

by Mark Rowe

‘It’s Not Just A Cop Shop’ is up and running in Corby town centre – and will be open until the end of the month (31 August).

The shop is at 51 Corporation Street, Corby, and is open Monday to Saturday (11am to 4pm) and Sunday (11am to 2pm).

It is staffed by Northamptonshire Police and Corby Community Safety Partnership through Corby Borough Council – the use of the shop has been kindly donated by Dan Pickard of Ashdown Phillips, on behalf of Helical Bar who own the town centre. The star employee is PC Ted, who will be looking after the shop and who is more than happy to pose for photographs with visitors.

PC Nichola Murray, of Corby Safer Community Team, said: “The shop is a great way for police officers and council staff to meet the people of Corby and discuss any concerns or issues they have.

“We are running themed weeks throughout the month and we have ball pits for children to play in and lots of goodies, like purse bells and safety alarms, to give away.”

The themed weeks are as follows:- Anti-social behaviour (this week), domestic abuse and sexual violence (w/c August 12), violence (w/c August 19), personal safety and back-to-school information (w/c August 27).
