Designing out crime date

There’s a transport theme to the latest seminar by DOCA, the body for those in the field of designing out crime. Design, Security and Crime: Policy, Practice, Critiques & Potential is the title of the meeting of DOCA – the Designing Out Crime Association.

The November 20 event at Brighton Town Hall opens with a speech by Norman Baker, the Home Office Minster for Crime Prevention and Lib Dem MP for the nearby East Sussex county town of Lewes.

Talks follow by Dr Andrew Newton, of Huddersfield University on secure by design on public transport to prevent theft; Carl Horsman, of Transport For London, on Bicycle Hire Schemes; and Raymond Davies, Transport For London, giving a case study on public conviences and sexual offences.

Dr Adam Thorpe, of the University of the Arts London, will report on recent research on ATMs.

After lunch Janita Bagshawe of the Royal Pavillion Estate will present a case study, and attenders can visit for themselves. Visit doca.org.uk.
