Guard firm chair

by Mark Rowe

Stuart Lowden is the new chairman of the Kent-based guarding contractor Ward Security.

Stuart has had a long and notable career within the security industry. Best known as a co-founder of the security arm of the logistics and related services contractor Wilson James, Stuart has been involved in various industry trade bodies, as a director and co-founder of the Security Institute, chairman of the UK Chapter of the US-based security management body ASIS; and as a chairman of the BSIA. He is a CSyP (Chartered Security Professional).

After his time at Wilson James, he has been a consultant. He was last featured in the February 2020 print edition of Professional Security magazine.

Managing Director, Kevin Ward said: “This is an important time in the development of Ward. We are delighted to have Stuart joining us; he brings a huge experience of the security industry. We are an ambitious company, driven to deliver excellent service and relationships. We are keen to expand our already wide range of services and to develop the careers of our employees. Stuart’s unrivalled commitment to the health, wellbeing and work-life balance of the workforce fits extremely well with our values.”

Stuart, pictured, said: “I’m still very passionate about the industry and I welcome the opportunity to join Ward at such an exciting time in their journey. They have strong values and a genuine desire to deliver intelligent solutions to their customers. I am excited at the prospect of working closely with the senior leadership team and supporting the business in its future growth.”

About the firm

Ward, meanwhile, too has had a part in the wider industry, such as, as a member of the London-based grouping of guarding companies, the City Security Council, featured in the February 2021 edition of Professional Security. Ward is an SIA Approved Contractor (ACS), having recently had its latest audit; and a member of the ACS Pacesetters group of ACS contractors.
