Hotel award

by Mark Rowe

A contract to deliver corporate and special event security to the new InterContinental London – The O2 has been awarded Integrated Security Consultants Limited (ISC).

The luxury hotel in south-west London is the latest flagship venue for Arora Hotels, the owner and operator. The new hotel, situated on the Greenwich peninsula, has 453 rooms including a presidential suite, with a destination spa, a ballroom for up to 3000 guests and Canary Wharf views from restaurants and bars.

The contract, with Meridian Hotel Operations Limited, will see ISC deliver security for corporate and special events in the building, a few steps from The O2 arena. Those events will include after-show parties after arena shows, exhibitions, launches, conferences, dinners and VIP visits. The new contract will mean a working relationship with the InterContinental’s in-house events and security teams. The security company, which points to a track record in high-end event security and looking after venues, won the bid after a tendering process.

Justine Shepherd, ISC Head of Operations said: “We are delighted to be working at such a fantastic venue. The hotel has superb, flexible event spaces, incredible views and some stunning areas for residents and guests to relax in. Our experience in providing high-calibre, corporate security officers who understand events and are in tune with the kind of discreet level of customer service required, means we were the right fit for the job.”

ISC is already known to The O2 Arena management, who work with the hotel, as the guarding company provides CCTV controllers for the O2 event control room.

ISC adds that it’s continually recruiting event security staff. The contract firm says that it will be seeking those with the right skills, customer facing manner and experience. Shepherd added: “This is going to be a remarkable place to work, and I think every event organiser is going to want to hold an event at this stunning venue.”
