Law Society mailroom contract

by Mark Rowe

A five-year document management and logistics services contract with The Law Society has gone to the Document Management arm of facilities management (FM) contractor Mitie, after following a tender process. These services were previously delivered in-house by the professional body.

Mitie is to provide mail room management, porterage, reprographics, scanning, records management, and purchasing services. The FM firm says these will be delivered using a fully integrated solution aligned to The Law Society’s WorkSmart project, which is focused on modernisation by bringing people, processes and technology together.

James Gilding, Managing Director, Document Management, Mitie, said: “We are delighted such an iconic professional association as The Law Society has entrusted Mitie with this first-generation outsourcing contract. We look forward to developing a long-term partnership, which enables The Law Society to focus on its member’s needs whilst trusting in Mitie’s expertise and innovative technology to deliver all its document management requirements.”

And Tom Booton, Head of Corporate Real Estate, The Law Society, said: “The Society conducted a very detailed and competitive tender involving leading specialists from the document management sector. Mitie offered a great level of expertise, technology and really understood our needs which set them apart. We look forward to welcoming them as a supply chain partner at The Law Society.”
