Restructure in Scotland

by Mark Rowe

The crowd management and event security contract company Showsec reports a restructure of their Scotland operation. The contractor has appointed Steven McCafferty as Area Manager for the West of Scotland and the Highlands.

McCafferty has been a prominent figure in the development of the company’s Scotland office since it first opened six years ago and he becomes the latest graduate of the company’s Management Development Programme to make the step to that level.

He is pictured with Scott Anderson, Showsec’s Regional Manager for Scotland, who said: “The exciting thing about Steven’s appointment is that he has been with us right from the outset and played a crucial part in the growth that has already been achieved across the region. As we look to expand our footprint throughout the United Kingdom, there is great potential to achieve further regional progression in Scotland with new clients coming on board and the opportunity to develop further work with our existing clients.

“Steven’s extensive knowledge of the business and indeed the region makes him the ideal person to drive this forward. Together with other changes that have been implemented, we feel we have the right management infrastructure in place to achieve our aims.”

Having joined Showsec when the Scotland office opened six years ago, he completed the Management Development Programme in 2011 and is now the seventh of Showsec’s 13 area managers to have followed that career pathway.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to play an important part in further development of the Scotland office,” said McCafferty, who has been promoted from the position of Operations Executive to take charge of west Scotland and the Highlands.

“It has been most satisfying to figure prominently in what we have achieved from the very start and the fact that I have got to know event organisers, venue managers and promoters so well will be an influential factor in taking on this new challenge. This is an exciting time with the new events and venues we have acquired, while the prospects of further growth across the region are very good. I have travelled the length and breadth of the country with Scott to work on events over the past few years, so I am looking forward to the chance now to support him in this role.”

The new structure of the Scotland team sees Yerodin Stewart take up the position of Operations Executive, while Andy Hamilton is now an Operations Supervisor as he undertakes the Management Development Programme, featured in the March 2016 print issue of Professional Security.
