Vertical Markets

SICUREZZA 2015

SICUREZZA 2015, the Italian security show at Fiera Milano from November 3 to 5, is the first edition of the exhibition to be held in an odd calendar year. The next exhibitions are scheduled for 2017 and 2019.

Video surveillance companies will be there in force, but there is also an offering of solutions and products from lock manufacturers and access control firms, the organisers report. SICUREZZA 2015 will not merely be offering an overview of technologies and solutions offered first-hand by Italian and international manufacturers, but also through vertical initiatives.

For example, for the retail trade and large-scale distribution, the Security for Retail Show (Hall 22) is being staged for the first time at SICUREZZA jointly with Italian magazine essecome/securindex.com.

Aimed at trade professionals in the retail sector who seek ways to protect their business, the area will encourage dialogue on these problems and propose customised solutions.

SICUREZZA and the Italian trade magazine Digitalic are again organizing Cyber Security Village (Hall 24). In a world where security tools are invariably digital devices linked to a network, which communicate with a server and a hard disk and are connected to the Internet, new solutions are needed to protect surveillance tools and the data they record, organisers suggest. Digitalic Village will be offering examples of the integration between ICT and security.

Another vertical area will be the one focusing on IoT: the intelligence and the security of things (Hall 24): With the advent of the ‘fourth industrial revolution’, things have become smart and can communicate with each other, and everything is linked to a digital device and a network. Not only have physical and logistical security converged, but security in every sphere has become a factor for ensuring protection and constant monitoring, but also for improving efficiency. Digitalic will organize a conference involving top experts on IoT and security, and technical workshops where case histories will be examined and future opportunities will be discussed.

Appearing for the first time at SICUREZZA, Drone Expo (Hall 22) is devoted to use of UAVs, (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, or drones) for the purposes of security and safety. It has been organized by Mediarkè, a company based in Rome, which, for a couple of years, has been promoting professional events of this kind in the sector for Italian and foreign companies specialising in UAVs. A ‘flight area’ will be set aside for demo flights involving multirotor drones. UAVs applications range from the surveillance of flows of migrants in the Mediterranean to controlling critical infrastructures and major events, protecting major monuments or art heritage to monitoring landslides and forest fires. Future applications may include emergency intervention after a natural disaster, controlling critical situations from the air and transporting drugs to isolated areas.

Another project returning to SICUREZZA is Ecosystem Village (Hall 24), the area of the exhibition manned by the partners of Milestone Systems: an exhibition area, but also a forum with a bar where people can meet and exchange views, and examine new technological products close up.

Applications and solutions will be the focus at the Solutions Gallery (Hall 24) organized by Ethos Media Group, publisher of the trade magazine a&s Italy, in an “exhibition leading to an award” which, in a special area of the exhibition, will give visibility to solutions designed to solve real problems experienced by customers, in various vertical markets, giving visitors the chance to vote for the solutions they think are most effective. The Solutions Gallery will be a journey beyond the product, focusing on the excellence of applied and integrated solutions.

And, completing the offering, there will be opportunities for training. The Ethos Academy will be directed in particular at installation technicians, offering training on aspects of technical subjects, standards, operation and management. Associations and publishers in the sector will be providing updates on standards, market analysis and current trends.
