Essen awards 2016

by Mark Rowe

There are still around two months until the 22nd edition of the Essen exhibition for security and fire prevention in Germany. The finalists for the Security Innovation Award have already been nominated. Out of 84 applications, the jury (pictured) chose 15 companies to advance into the next round.

For the fifth time, the recognised mark of distinction will be conferred by Messe Essen. Every two years, it names winners in the Technology and Products, Services and Fire Protection categories.

In the 2016 jury Hermann Feuerlein who was the former Vice-Chairman of the Federal Association of Independent German Security Consultants and Engineers (BdSI) and has worked on the award since the premiere in 2008 is being succeeded by Jens Washausen, a member of the Board of BdSI. With 59 applications, the Technology and Products category accounted for most applications, followed by the Fire Protection and Security Services categories.

Winners will be chosen on August 29. The presentation ceremony will take place in a festive setting on the first day of Security Essen, September 27. The show runs to September 30; visit http://www.security-essen.de.
