Organisations from across the security industry are taking part in seminars titled PD6662: The Industry Debate. The aim is to educate a wider audience about the implications of the PD6662 scheme relating to hold-up and intruder alarms. Briefly,ย PD6662. available from British Standards,ย describes a scheme which enables intrusion and hold-up alarms (I&HASs) to be installed and maintained in accordance with published British and European standards.
The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) will be joined by the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) and Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB), the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) and its Scottish counterpart, ACPOS, in presentations and debates surrounding the new scheme, which became a requirement to use on June 1.
David Wilkinson, Technical Manager at the BSIA, says: โFollowing the success of our previous presentations, which were delivered at the time of the PD6662 implementation, we wanted to follow up with a review of the details of the scheme, focusing on the key issues such as alarm confirmation and remote maintenance.โ
Described as less technical in nature than previous events, this round of presentations aims to appeal to a wider audience, including installers and their customers, end users, insurers and police. David Wilkinson adds: โThis is an excellent opportunity to hear from the key players in the implementation of the scheme and also learn more about how it fits in to the ACPO and ACPOS policies.โ
A Q&A session is to enable delegates to share their own experiences of PD6662, and obtain advice and guidance directly from the industryโs trade body, inspectorates and police.ย Manufacturers of PD6662 compliant products will also be on hand to provide practical demonstrations of the products and how they work.
Four seminars are planned, across Britain. The days and venues are:

North (Rochdale) โ October 23
Midlands (Henley-in-Arden) โย November 6
Scotland (Glasgow) โย November 14.
