SSAIB forum

by Mark Rowe

SSAIB held the inaugural SSAIB Installer Forum with BT Redcare, and IFSEC International. At the BT Tower on April 24, pictured left to right are Andy Fyvie, head of product, BT Redcare Fire and Security with Geoff Tate, Chief Executive of the SAAIB. Installers and engineers within the security industry could voice their opinions. Geoff Tate, Chief Executive of the SSAIB presented an overview of the latest standards, acknowledging the volume of standards installers need to comply with and how these are set to be stabilised.

Topics for those attending included the challenge installers face to keep competitive pricing against larger organisations, as Wade Lindo, Managing Director of Jigsaw Security Solutions detailed. Security consultant Rick Mounfield, Operations Director of Blackstone Consultancy stressed that attending industry events is crucial to keeping up to speed on industry developments, due to the speed technology is progressing.

IP and the possibilities for system integration, remains a talking point within the industry. Identifying the right scenario for this to be implemented can range on the domestic use of commercial properties, as well as the client specification, as Steve Slade, Sales Director of Essential Group said.

For BT Redcare Neil Richards, Head of Sales spoke of the need for companies to specialise in a range of products to enable installers to implement them into differing situations, following feedback directly from the industry. Watch these trends and more in this short video:

The organisers hope to hold a similar forum later this year in the Midlands or the north and to make an annual event in the south. Visit http://www.redcare.bt.com/.
