Access, time attendance terminal

by Mark Rowe

Suprema, the biometrics product company, has launched BioLite N2, a mullion-type access control and time attendance terminal featuring fingerprint access.

BioLite N2 is designed for enterprise access control and time attendance applications, with 1.2GHz CPU and 4GB memory. The developers of the BioLite N2 claim a matching speed of up to 20,000 matches per second. The device accommodates up to 10,000 users.

For operation under extreme conditions such as outdoor installation and harsh climate, the terminal features an IP67 structure with an operating temperature range between minus 20 degrees to 50 degrees C. The device also features illuminated keypad and high-contrast GUI for visibility under various lighting.

The makers claim also performance and accuracy for dry finger skins which often become problematic in winter when humidity drops. Suprema’s current second generation fingerprint terminals yield up to five times better accuracy over dry skins (or under cold weather) than its competitors in terms of FRR (false rejection rate), it’s claimed.

HC Kim, Director of Global Business at Suprema, said: “The new BioLite N2 is designed to provide the best reliable fingerprint matching performance over dynamic environments such as outdoor installation and extreme weather conditions. As common with Suprema’s other second generation fingerprint IP readers, BioLite N2 provides up to 200pc faster matching speed than its predecessor, BioLite Net and easily far outperforms competing products.”
